Simachal Padhy passes away; IFFCO family plunges in gloom

Soft-spoken and endearing, Simachal Padhy is no more as he breathed his last evening (Thursday) at around 11 pm. Embodying the true spirit of a cooperator, Padhy’s health had been declining for some time following a fall that resulted in a fracture.

He was admitted to Fortis Hospital in Gurgaon, where he underwent surgery. Though he returned home, he unfortunately contracted an infection and was readmitted to the hospital, where he passed away at around 11 PM.

His body is being transported to Bhubaneswar this morning (Friday). An IFFCO officer close to Padhy mentioned that the last rites would be conducted in his native village, Purusottampur, in the Ganjam district of Odisha.

IFFCO, known for their strong familial ties, have rushed its Paradeep employees to Padhy’s native village to prepare for the last rites.

IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani, who had recently returned from the USA after attending the soft launch of IYC 25, was deeply shocked by the news.

Born in July 1962, Padhy was just 62 years old. He became an IFFCO Director in 2007 and served on its board for an uninterrupted 17 years.

Speaking to Indian Cooperative, Sanghani said, “Padhyjee epitomized simplicity and embodied the true nature of a cooperator.”

Several IFFCO directors were equally stunned by the news as it spread rapidly. IFFCO MD Dr. U. S. Awasthi tweeted, “Deeply saddened by the demise of our beloved eminent cooperator from Odisha and member of the Board of Directors of IFFCO, Sh. Simachal Padhy.”

Awasthi added, “He was one of the finest cooperators from Odisha. He was a kind and simple person. My heartfelt condolences to his family. I pray to Lord Jagannath Ji to bestow heaven upon him and give his family the strength to bear this irreparable loss. Om Shanti.”

Netizens affiliated with IFFCO expressed their shock and condolences, with one tweeting, “Very sad news! My deepest condolences. As a member of the IFFCO Board of Directors, he was a real asset to the organization. May his soul rest in peace, and may God grant his family the strength to endure this loss.”
