Sahakar Bharati Rajasthan denies report on Mukesh Modi

The Organizing Secretary of West Zone of Sahakar Bharati Mr Hanuman Prasad Agrawal has mailed a letter to the Indian Cooperative doubting the veracity of a report on Mukesh Modi of Adarsh Credit Co-op fame published in the portal titled “Adarsh Co-op: Sahakar Bharati to replace Mukesh Modi”. (https://www.indiancooperative.com/banks/adarsh-co-op-sahakar-bharati-to-replace-mukesh-modi/)

Writing in chaste Hindi Agarwal says he is the Organizing Secretary of Western Zone of Sahakar Bharati and he can say with authority that no such move to replace Mr Modi as the Chief of Sahakar Bharati Rajasthan Chapter is under consideration.

“Being the Organizing Secretary I deny the veracity of this report. Sahakar Bharati is a non-governmental and a non-political organization where an official is elected on the basis of established norms and not on the whims of any individual whoever he may be”, the mail reads.

“Please take the pain of publishing our denial to this piece of news item so that workers of Sahakar Bharati are saved from further confusion”, the mail was worded in a polite language typical of RSS style of speech.

Hanuman Prasad Agarwal who mailed this letter also talked to this correspondent on the phone. A polite and humble sounding Agarwal wondered if we would publish his denial of the report. We promised to publish his denial without qualification upholding the ideals of democracy and journalism.

Indian Cooperative, however, continues to stand by its report on the issue. We cannot disclose the name of the Sahakar Bharati official who shared with us his views on the matter, bound as we are by the professional ethics of not disclosing the name when a source wants so.

But what struck as remarkable to us was Organizing Secretary Hanuman Prasad Agarwal’s opening line on the phone in which he said “I do not wish to defend what has been reported in media about the Adarsh Credit Co-op. My only submission relates to Mukesh Modi replacement issue”.

What does it mean; does he agree with the charges levelled against Mukesh? Or he would like to wait till a thorough probe is conducted in Adarsh affairs? Indian Cooperative leaves it on readers to guess.

Though Mukesh or Rahul Modi does not answer our calls, displaying an unusual large heartedness Mukesh Modi clicked the like-button on the Indian Cooperative’s Face Book page displaying this story which can be seen in the following picture.

It bears recall that Mukesh Modi is caught up in the thick of controversy after the ABP News exposed Adarsh Credit Co-op operations and alleged that in the name of cooperative Mukesh and his family members are running Ponzi schemes duping more than 20 lakh depositors.
