The centenary celebrations of Karimnagar DCCB have become the talk of the town with co-operators from across the country heading towards the Karimnagar district of Telangana. The DCCB that completes 100 years of its existence has seen many ups and downs in the journey.
Interestingly, to make the event grab national attention, Karimnagar DCCB Chairman K Ravindra Rao has also ensured that the board meeting of the apex body of co-op banks NAFSCOB takes place on the occasion. Rao is also the Chairman of NAFSCOB.
Leading co-operators led by ICA-AP and Kribhco Chairman Chandra Pal Singh Yadav has arrived in Karimnagar in Telangana to attend the centenary celebrations. Others who have made it to the event include NCUI Chairman Dileep Sanghani, NAFED Chairman Bijender Singh, Biscomaun Chairman Sunil Kumar Singh, Kribhco Director Ponnam Prabhakar, etc.
Rao tried hard to have the Chief Minister of Telangana inaugurate the event but he had to console himself with Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao and State Cooperative Minister Niranjan Reddy. Many other state VIPs are gracing the occasion.
Nabard Chairman Dr. GR Chinthala will also grace the occasion along with hundreds of cooperators already at Padmanayaka community hall in Karimnagar. Chinatala will be launching its mobile app (Karimnagar DCCB) and IMPS (immediate payment service) services to enable its customers to carry out banking transactions digitally, on a single platform.
On the occasion, Chandra Pal Singh Yadav will also be felicitated for winning the ICA-AP Presidential election with huge margins, in the recently concluded elections.
After the Centenary Celebrations, the apex body of State Cooperative Banks and DCCBs-Nafscob will hold their board meeting and scores of issues will be discussed including National Policy on Cooperatives.
It is worth recalling that the Karimnagar DCCB started in 1921 with a share capital of Rs 9 lakhs in 1959 and it increased to Rs 117.73 crore during this year. It bears recalling that the bank’s accumulated loss in 2006-07 was Rs 57.91 crore but today the bank’s total business is more than Rs 4,600 crore. The bank has 67 branches.
