Balmiki Tripathi, a leader associated with the BJP cooperative cell, and Ramshankar Jaiswal, former Chairman of Sahakar Bharati UP Chapter, have been elected unopposed as the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of PCF respectively. The election for the said posts was held on Tuesday.
And with this, the supremacy of Samajwadi Party leaders has come to an end after a long time from Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Federation (PCF). The apex co-op body has completely gone into the hands of the leaders associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party.
The PCF board consists of 14 directors which include the candidates from General Category, Women, SC/ST, and OBC but only the elections were held for 11 seats because on three seats no nominations were received. All eleven directors connected with the BJP have been elected unopposed.
Tripathi’s followers lost no time in congratulating him on his victory. Many of them took to social media to greet the newly elected Chairman of PCF. Several veteran cooperators including IFFCO Sahakarita Bandhu Award winner Bharat Tripathy, IFFCO Vice-Chairman Balvir Singh, and others supported the BJP candidates.
In Uttar Pradesh, there are 7500 cooperatives with one crore members. Now almost all societies of the state including PCF, Uttar Pradesh State Cooperative Bank, UP Sahkari Gram Vikas Bank, UP State Consumer Cooperative, and others have gone into the hands of the BJP.
PCF was established on 11th June 1943. It was aimed at serving the masses in general and the farmers in particular through procurement of their agricultural produce and marketing.
