Addressing a seminar organized by Bihar cooperative department in Patna on the occasion of valedictory ceremony of 65th All Indian Cooperative Week State Cooperative Minister Rana Randhir Singh said PACCs will be soon developed as Agriculture Welfare Centers.
“Finance department has already given their approval in this regard and besides this, we will also provide managerial grant-in-aid to Primary agriculture societies. The area of operation of PACCs are increasing day by day and they playing an important role in the interest of farmers. PACS have also become agent of development for the agriculture sector”, Rana said lauding their role.

Readers would recall that last year government had announced to give loan at 8 percent for the purchase of paddy to PACCs but there happened a huge delay in getting approval of the finance department. “But now we got the approval and will soon disburse loan at 8 percent. Cooperative department is working for all-round development of PACCs”, claimed the Minister.
Speaking on the occasion Additional Chief Secretary Cooperative Department Atul Prasad said those PACCs which are doing the business of manure; seeds and other related business can soon take benefits from the Green Agricultural Plant Scheme. He also urged that more and more member of cooperatives should do the business of manure and seeds.
It goes to the credit of the Nitish govt that it was one of the few states which instituted Election Authority to conduct PACS election in a free and fair manner. The efforts have led to growth of massive PACS presence in the states. The number of PACS members have increased from 30 lakh to more than one crore. And out of this, 36 lakhs members are women.
A large number of PACCs members, Chairmen, delegates and others were present on this occasion.
