Dear Fellow Cooperators,
Happy New Year 2024!
I extend my sincere gratitude to each one of you for your invaluable contributions in elevating the cooperative movement to unprecedented heights. We find ourselves in an exhilarating era where cooperatives take center stage, not only for us cooperators but also for the government led by Shri Narendra Modi. The appointment of Amit Shahjee as the Cooperation Minister has infused a rare dynamism into the cooperative movement.
With the support of approximately 30 crore co-operators, NCUI is unwavering in its commitment to realize the vision of Sahakar Se Samriddhi. This conviction is fueled by my firsthand experiences touring various parts of India and witnessing the zeal of co-operators.
Throughout the year, the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) embarked on numerous initiatives to fortify the foundations of the cooperative movement and disseminate information about the Ministry of Cooperation’s schemes. We were not only heartened by the words of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi but also received the backing of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah.
I also take this opportunity to express my gratitude to cooperators and cooperative organizations for their selfless support in making the ‘Cooperative Congress’ a resounding success.
NCUI organized several national and international training programs across the country to enhance the managerial skills of chairpersons, board members, employees, and others.
The apex body launched the world’s first e-commerce cooperative portal, providing a platform for small co-ops to sell their handmade products. We also forged a partnership with NITCON, a PSU under the Ministry of Finance. In a bid to empower women and promote self-reliance, NCUI is providing training at its Incubation Centre. Numerous women from Delhi have undergone training, and many have stepped forward to register multipurpose cooperative societies.
Furthermore, NCUI encouraged the people of Leh and Ladakh to embrace the cooperative movement, fostering its growth in hilly areas.
NCUI’s field projects across the country are making remarkable strides in empowering and involving rural populations in the cooperative movement. Presently, the apex body oversees around 34 field projects covering various states and a union territory.
In addition, the NCUI Skill Development Centre in Noida is taking shape, contributing to the realization of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Sahakar Se Samriddhi.’ The HCL Foundation has partnered with NCUI to develop training infrastructure, market platforms, and branding support for SHGs and cooperatives nationwide.
The apex body introduced the Coops4GenNext Knowledge series on Cooperatives, offering a robust interactive cooperative knowledge platform for the youth. Numerous series featuring experts from the cooperative sector and beyond were organized.
To foster a positive environment, NCUI renovated its administrative building, and office renovation for officials is already complete. Ongoing construction includes a new hostel building, expected to be completed in a couple of months. As the apex body, we leave no stone unturned in positioning the organization at the forefront.
Regarding handmade items by SHGs, farmers’ producer organizations, and others, NCUI Haat is gaining prominence as a focal point for people. We provide a platform for artisans associated with various cooperatives, SHGs, and FPOs from across the country to showcase their products under one roof.
I extend warm New Year wishes to our Vice-Chairman Sh. Bijendra Singh, all governing council members, and others for their continuous support and guidance throughout 2023.
I also express my gratitude to all NCUI employees for their dedication, hard work, and constant support to the management during 2023. Thanks also to the Union Ministry of Cooperation, Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, and Indian and International Media for their invaluable support and assistance throughout 2023.
Once again, I wish you all a very Happy New Year filled with Peace, Prosperity, and Good Health.
