No farmer will be allowed to die: Bihar Minister

Asserting that no farmer would be allowed to die because of drought persisting in Bihar for two successive years, state Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh on Saturday said his government would offer all-possible help to increase foodgrain production.

While addressing a workshop on Kharif crop in Patna, Singh said the state government would provide subsidy on diesel in the event of poor rainfall during the coming monsoon.

Singh said the state government would encourage farmers to take up organic farming to meet the scarcity of fertilisers as the state would require nine lakh metric tonnes fertiliser for Kharif this year.
