National Federation of Tourism & Transport Cooperatives of India (NFTC) has been mired in controversy because its Managing Director Sanjay Sinha has written a letter to the Secretary of the Department of cooperation claiming the irregularities in the elections held in January this year. He accused all the incumbent directors of being elected on an illegal basis and demanded inquiry on the matter.
Sinha’s charges were, however, pooh poohed by some of the newly elected board members who accuse him of spreading muck out of his own selfish motive. Where was he all these months, they ask.
“To tell you the truth Sinha has been terminated from the services recently and the charge of MD has been given to Ram Naresh Thakur. Due to his termination, he is making false allegations against us which are baseless. The elections were held in January and where was he till date”, asked one of the directors of NTFC.
In his complaint letter, Sinha made several strong allegations against the present Chairman VVP Nair, and the Returning officer, Dr V K Dubey (Ex-Director, NCUI) who had been appointed to oversee the election process.
“V.K. Dubey in connivance with VVP Nair and Ram Naresh Thakur (NFTC, Executive Director-Project & HR) fraudulently accepted 48 State Co-operative Societies to nominate their delegates to participate in the election of NFTC. Out of 48 societies, 34 of them were not from the area of operations of NFTC as approved by CRCS”, Sinha accused.
He further added that “Nair in connivance with the Election Officer duly forged the records to the extent of more than 34 such societies to show that the said societies fall in the area of Operation of NFTC which are four states/UT i.e. Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat & Jammu & Kashmir. None of the 34 Such Societies are approved by CRCS in the area of Operation of NFTC”, NTFC the MD claimed.
Talking to the Indian Cooperative correspondent, Sinha said, Nair is thinking that NFTC is his personal fiefdom. He keeps on asking for a flat for rent in Greater Kailash, Delhi, and a personal Innova car for local visits. The Society is not earning so much that we can fulfil his personal demands”, he added.
He further added that the society which Nair represents at NFTC is Goa-based and the said state is not our area of Jurisdiction. Several days back we had requested the Central Registrar to expand our area of operation to the state of Goa but on several grounds, he rejected our request”, Sinha informed on the phone.
In his other allegations, Sinha said that Nair got himself elected as Chairman along with all other Board of Directors, of NFTC though he himself is from Goa Co-operative Societies wherein he manipulated and forged the documents to show himself from states falling in Area of Operations of NFTC.
In a bid to help Nair in the elections, Dubey rejected the nomination of genuine delegates to support his agenda. The accused persons are now committing corruption in NFTC by siphoning off funds and collecting illegal money in the name of NFTC, Singh alleges.
The said persons are trying to manipulate office records and documents of NFTC which is entirely illegal and outside their purview. Further crossing all the limits, important government files have also been stolen by the accused persons from the office, claimed Sinha.
