The 217th meeting of the Governing Council of the apex cooperative body, NCUI, was held on Wednesday, focusing on enhancing the organization’s self-reliance and exploring new business opportunities.
During the meeting, discussions centered on reinforcing the foundations of the cooperative movement. The Governing Council also decided to hold the Annual General Meeting on September 25, 2024, at the NCUI Auditorium.
The meeting addressed the increase in membership fees, determining that the fee for state-level cooperatives would be Rs 25,000, while for Multi-State Cooperative Societies and National Level Cooperatives, it would be Rs 50,000 and Rs 1 lakh, respectively.
The issue of terminal dues for Mohan Mishra, the former Secretary of NCCT, was discussed. It was reported that, with the approval of the NCUI President, Mishra’s terminal dues were transferred to the NCCT account on July 26, 2024.
Although not on the agenda, a brief discussion was held regarding the employees of Cooperative Education Field Projects. It was decided to send another letter to the Union Ministry of Cooperation, urging them to release funds from the CEF for the continuation of NCUI Cooperative Education Field Projects.
The GC members also considered the appointment of Jethabhai Ahir as the representative from NAFED on the NCUI board, replacing Bijendra Singh, the former Chairman of NAFED. Bijendra Singh will continue on the board as a representative of the Delhi State Cooperative Bank.
The members discussed the revised budget for 2024-25 and budget estimates for 2025-26. Additionally, deliberations were held on time-sensitive amendments to NCUI’s bye-laws.
