National Cooperative Consumers Federation of India (NCCF) Chairman Vishal Singh met the Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah at his office in Delhi on Thursday and sought his guidance in taking the consumers cooperative movement to new heights.
Held in the backdrop of making NCCF a thriving concern, the meeting was centered on discussions aimed at enhancing the consumer co-op movement, which plays a crucial role in ensuring fair prices and quality products for consumers.
Soon after the meeting, talking to Indian Cooperative NCCF Chairman Vishal Singh said, “It was a fruitful meeting with the Union Cooperation Minister. The discussions were held on achieving the vision of our Prime Minister of ‘Sahakar Se Samriddhi’ and what role can NCCF play in achieving the vision”, he said.
“There is no doubt that under the leadership of the Union Home and Cooperation Minister, the cooperative sector is witnessing unprecedented growth and development,” said Singh.
He further added, “Shah’s commitment to supporting and strengthening consumer cooperatives is truly commendable, and we are optimistic about the future of the cooperative movement in India” he stated.
It is worth mentioning that NCCF is growing well and also playing an important role in stabilizing the prices of food commodities. Earlier, when the tomato prices touched the sky, NCCF came forward and joined hands with the central government for stabilizing prices.
At present, NCCF has engaged itself in the procurement of summer Urad under the Price Support Scheme (PSS).
NCCF is also procuring maize at a minimum support price from the farmers and supplying to the distilleries at mutually agreed rate. This step is to promote the use of maize as an alternative to sugar to increase ethanol production.
It bears recalling that while taking the meeting of board members of NCCF last year, Union Minister Amit Shah had asked the NCCF team to achieve a business turnover of Rs 50,000 crore till 2028.
Meanwhile, Vishal’s post on his meeting with Shah on social media, has attracted attention of his followers, who have congratulated him profusely. It bears recalling that ever since he took over as the Chairman of NCCF, his co-operative stature has been on the rise. In Nafed elections, he once again proved his clout by beating the formidable cooperator from Bihar, Sunil Kumar Singh.
