Indian Cooperative talked to many leaders of the outgoing Nafcub Board who looked interested in their re-election. Many new people have also shown desire to contest the elections.
The NAFCUB board comprises 23 members, out of which nineteen (19) directors will be elected. State federations/associations have 9 seats while urban cooperative banks have 7 seats.
There will be one director from Mahila UCBs and two directors from urban cooperative credit societies. There is just one government nominee. The federation is registered under the Multi State Cooperative Societies Act with the Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies.
Currently, Gujarat UCBs federation Chairman Jyotindrabhai Mehta is the President while Vidyadhar Anaskar is the Vice-President of Nafcub.
One of the cooperators who is keeping a close watch on the Nafcub’s elections said, Mehta has already completed his two terms and therefore cannot stand for Chairman for the third term in the wake of the Multi State Cooperative Societies Act.
The NAFCUB Board has had several eminent personalities as its office bearers in the past such as Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, former President of India.
