NACOF grows from strength to strength; business crosses Rs 3200cr

The National Federation of Farmers’ Procurement, Processing and Retailing Cooperatives of India Ltd, (NACOF) has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing a business turnover of Rs 3,200 crore, registering a profit of Rs 10 crore after tax. This achievement was highlighted during NACOF’s 15th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) headquarters in Delhi on Tuesday.

In his address, NACOF’s Working President, Ramiqbal Singh, expressed satisfaction over the cooperative’s performance despite a challenging market. “We have faced shrinking business opportunities as many government procurements have been assigned to bigger players like Nafed and NCCF, but NACOF has successfully diversified and explored new avenues,” said Singh, while welcoming delegates to the AGM.

Singh also urged the cooperative to focus on social service beyond business. Citing the philosophy of “Nishkam Karma” from the Bhagavad Gita, he emphasized that true fulfillment comes from selfless service. In line with this vision, Singh proposed building an old-age home, urging the delegates to consider the initiative. He requested the Labour Fed MD to initiate the project, offering NACOF’s financial support.

The AGM, attended by notable figures such as Sahakar Bharati National President D N Thakur and NACOF Board members Ranjit Singh, Ashok Singh, and Sunil Khatri, also witnessed the participation of Singh’s family members. Singh’s sons, Rajiv and Sanjiv, who serve on the NACOF Board, were present alongside their father.

During the event, NACOF recognized contributions from both internal and external stakeholders. Among those honoured were N Satyanarayan, former Chief Executive of NCUI, and B K Mishra, former Managing Director of Fishcopfed, each of whom received a Rs 51,000 cheque in appreciation of their service to the cooperative movement.

Singh praised their commitment to the cooperative sector, saying, “These individuals have made significant contributions, and we hope they continue their mission with NACOF’s support.” The ceremony was moderated by well-known cooperative author Santosh Kumar Sharma, with LINAC Director General Manoj Kumar and journalist Harvir Singh among the distinguished guests.

NACOF’s growth trajectory is a testament to its success in diversifying operations. It has entered into multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with various state government departments and public undertakings. Additionally, NACOF has been actively involved in e-tendering with NAFED and CONFED for the supply of consumables and is listed on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM).

The cooperative’s branches are securing purchase orders from several states for various items, including Chana Dal, sugar, RBD Palmolein oil, and ready-to-eat foodstuffs such as Masoor Dal. It also plays a crucial role in the Mid-Day Meal schemes, while participating in the production and marketing of seeds, fertilizers, and bio-fertilizers.

In the service sector, NACOF is involved in waste management, including the disposal of solid waste and land reclamation projects. Notably, NACOF completed bio-mining and waste management projects in Uttar Pradesh, with the Lucknow branch supervising their operation.

NACOF has also been entrusted by government bodies like Small Farmers Agri-business Consortium (SFAC), NAFED, and National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) to set up Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in various states. This initiative strengthens NACOF’s direct engagement with farmers and supports its diversification efforts.

Moreover, the cooperative has ventured into training and placement services, having been selected by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to provide training under the Pradhan Mantri Dakshata Aur Kushalta Sampann Hitgrahi (PM-DAKSH) Scheme for 2023-24 and 2024-25.

With its consistent efforts in diversification and social outreach, NACOF continues to grow from strength to strength, emerging as a key player in India’s cooperative sector.
