The Union Ministry of Cooperation is organizing a national-level review meeting with States/UTs on various initiatives taken by the Ministry of Cooperation for strengthening the cooperative sector.
The meeting will be held from 30 September to 1 October in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha, at the Mayfair Hotel. Odisha Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja will be the chief guest, and Union Ministry of Cooperation Secretary Ashish Bhutani will be the guest of honor.
The review meeting aims to ensure the smooth implementation of three key initiatives launched by Union Home & Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on 19 September, across every village/panchayat in the country, according to an official tweet from the Union Ministry of Cooperation.
The agenda for Day 1 includes workshops, review sessions, and brainstorming discussions. A key workshop will focus on the operationalization of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), covering the formation of 2 lakh new Multipurpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (MPACS), as well as Primary Dairy and Fisheries Cooperative Societies in all Panchayats. Additionally, the launch of White Revolution 2.0 and enhancing cooperation amongst cooperatives will be discussed.
The day will also feature two review sessions followed by brainstorming sessions, which will explore the digitization of cooperative systems, transforming Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) into one-stop shops, fostering cooperation among cooperatives, and providing cooperative training, with a special focus on the role of social media in promoting cooperatives.
The agenda for Day 2 includes a crucial review meeting, with Session III focusing on “Cooperation Amongst Cooperatives.” Dinesh Kumar Verma, Director of the Ministry of Cooperation (MOC), will lead this session, presenting detailed insights into the NECL, NOCL, and BBSSL initiatives, which aim to enhance inter-cooperative collaboration.
In Review Meeting Session IV, Verma will continue with another presentation, this time emphasizing the NAFED and NCCF Portal initiatives. These presentations are part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the cooperative movement in India through collaboration, digitalization, and innovative strategies.
This meeting is expected to serve as a platform for evaluating progress and discussing strategies to further develop the cooperative ecosystem in India.
The focus of the meeting will be to expedite groundwork and ensure that these initiatives effectively and swiftly reach the grassroots level.
It is worth recalling that Amit Shah launched major initiatives of the Ministry of Cooperation within the first 100 days of the central government’s third term. These initiatives are part of a broader set of 10 measures aimed at strengthening the cooperative sector across the country.
