Maharashtra Cooperation Minister Dilip Walse Patil presided over the meeting of Chairmen and CEOs of District Central Cooperative Banks on Monday. Mumbai DCCB Chairman Pravin Darekar, Cooperative Commissioner of Maharashtra, MSC Bank Administrative Board Chairman Vidyadhar Anaskar, all Joint Registrars of Maharashtra and others were present on this occasion.
Addressing the meeting, Patil said, “The government is trying to help the beleaguered DCCBs especially those of Beed, Nagpur and Nashik overcome their financial crisis. A separate scheme will be rolled out in improving the conditions of these DCCBs of the state”, he said.
Patil instructed the sugar commissioner to discuss problems with the concerned sugar factories and the district central cooperative bank to formulate a policy for the purchase of small capacity sugarcane cutting machines, the minister said.
During the meeting discussions about strengthening the district central cooperative banks of Maharashtra were held.
It was informed in the meeting that the cadre system in the PACS of the state would be re-implemented in a couple of days, which had been abolished more than 10 years ago on the recommendations of the Vaidyanathan Committee.
This will ensure the respective district central co-op banks of the state appoint the secretary in PACS accordingly. It is worth mentioning that Satara and Pune DCCBs had taken a lead in the re-implementation of the cadre system and were knocking at the door of the high court.
Talking to Indian Cooperative correspondent, Satara DCCB CEO Rajendra Sarkale said, “The meeting was very fruitful and deliberations were held on strengthening the DCCBs of the state.
“In the meeting, a demand was made for increasing the cap of share money for members associated with the PACS linked with the respective DCCBs. It should be increased from 20k to 50k”, said Sarkale to this correspondent on the phone.
The representatives of DCCBs also asked for restoring the interest subvention scheme for short-term crop loans in respect of DCCBs.
