Jyotindrabhai Mehta has been bestowed with Special Award for his outstanding contribution to co-operative sector by the Frontiers in Co-operative Banking Awards. He received FCBA- 2015 Award during a cooperative function in Goa.
Mehta is a leading UCB cooperator who besides being the Chairman of Rajkot Nagrik Sahakari Bank is also the Chairman of Gujarat Urban Co-Operative Banks Federation. Mehta is also on board of National Cooperative Union of India.
FCBA (Frontiers in Cooperative Banking Awards) was set up in 2006 and it felicitates the selfless services rendered by the cooperative and rural markets. The awards are mix of technology, strong vision and business acumen. It has been well appreciated by Bankers, Regulators, Industry associations, claims its website.
The awards function was preceded by a National Conference where various knowledge presentations, case studies and panel discussions are held. Chairmen, Directors, CEOs, Business and Technology heads from cooperative banks across India participated in the show.
Urban cooperative banks and cooperative banks spread across the country have championed the cause of being the banker to the less privileged. The services offered by a couple of the UCBs are comparable to their PSU and Private Bank counterparts.
This sector is however reeling under shock after the latest RBI Panel recommendation advocating conversion of these into commercial entities for future growth. Mehta has plunged headlong in democratic protest of this recommendation.
