Massive presence in Amin’s show underlines his clout

Eager to play a more active role not only in Gujarat but also in Delhi, Gujarat State Co-op Union Chairman who is also the Vice-President of apex body NCUI G H Amin organized a massive cooperative conference in Ahmadabad last week.

Though the state Chief Minister Vijay Rupani who was advertised as the Chief Guest did not come, there were many dignitaries who graced the occasion which included Union Minister Parshottam Rupala, state co-op minister Ishwarsisnh Patel, among others.

Though majority of cooperators were drawn from the state itself, Sunil Kumar Singh, Biscomaun Chairman had flown to Ahmadabad to participate in the show. Other notable presence were that of Dileep Sanghani, Ajay Patel, G H Amin’s younger brother and head of state planning commission Narhari Amin.

Addressing the GSCU convention held in Gandhinagar Union Minister Parshottam  Rupala called for boosting the earnings of farmers and suggested their income cannot be increased only through farming but through involving horticulture, diary and other allied sectors as well , the minister noted.

In his remarks on the occasion, Gujarat cooperative minister Ishwarsisnh Patel said the state govt. valued cooperatives and would explore the possibility of ensuring prosperity for the people through cooperatives in the state.

Gujarat with its excellent cooperative bodies remained a role model for the rest of the country. Cooperatives like Amul, IFFCO and KRIBHCO are playing an important role in doubling the income of farmers, he said.

The convention was attended by around 5,000 delegates representing various cooperative institutions of Gujarat. The theme of the convention was ” the role of cooperatives in doubling of farmers’ income ”.

Ghanshyam Amin, chairman of the GSCU said, “It is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to double the income of farmers by 2020. The government will need the support of cooperatives to materialize this vision” he said.

“In Gujarat, 98% of the villages are attached to cooperatives. Some 9,000 Sewa Sahakari Mandalis along with some 18,000 milk cooperative unions are active in Gujarat which have roped in tens of lakhs of farmers in the state,” he added.

The co-operative conference was also a show of strength for GH Amin, the vice president to apex national body NCUI. The huge presence of cooperators in the event underlined his clout in the state co-operative corridors, said observers.

It may not be out of place to mention here that Amin is a frontline contender for NCUI Presidentship next year when the incumbent President Chandrapal Singh Yadav completes his two terms.
