Aiming to build a robust credit cooperative movement in the country, Sahakar Bharati is organizing a mega national conference in Delhi which is likely to be attended by more than 1200 credit co-ops from across states. More than 7000 delegates would attend the event, claimed its National General Secretary Uday Joshi in a media interaction in Delhi on Tuesday.
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah is likely to inaugurate the two-day function which is primarily aimed at “mainstreaming credit co-ops and giving them their due”. Elaborating further, the President of Sahakar Bharati D N Thakur said that no other entity can achieve 100% of financial inclusion as can be done by credit co-ops. In order to achieve the PM’s dream on the same we need to treat credit co-ops fairly and on the lines of other financial entities, Thakur added.
“We need to change the perception regarding credit co-ops and we need to convince the people at large and the government in particular that there cannot be a bigger and better agency of change than credit co-ops”, said both Thakur and Joshi almost in unison.
To catch the attention of the people who matter for the sector, Sahakar Bharati has been able to rope in some biggies to be part of the event. Besides Amit Shah, CBDT Chairman has also been invited. MoS Finance Bhagwat Karad would also be participating on the second day, informed the leaders.
Despite its leading role in ushering in inclusive growth for the downtrodden sector of Society, credit co-ops are facing several challenges & threats, which can be resolved at the level of Central Govt, said Joshi.
“The National Credit Co-ops Adhiveshan on 2nd & 3rd December in the Mela ground of ICAR will aim to resolve the challenges before Credit Co-ops. A Charter of demands has been prepared by the Sahakar Bharati and sent to delegates in advance for a fruitful discussion during the conference”, said Joshi.
Some of these include – Credit Co-ops be entitled for the benefits of Deposit, Insurance Coverage, Credit Co-ops should get the relief U/S 80P (2); 268 SS & ST without any discrimination, registration of Credit Co-ops should happen both at Central & State Level and for cashless & digital transactions, Credit Co-ops be entitled to membership of National Payment Gateway.
Other demands include Credit CoOps be entitled for the services like CIBIL, provisions SARFAESI Act to Credit CoOps for speedy, effective & efficient recovery of loans, Empowering Credit Co-ops to invest in Govt Securities and they must be allowed to participate in Govt Schemes like Mudra Loans.
For the successful organisation of this Mega Event, Sahakar Bharati has organised a Reception Committee under the guidance of Founder Chairman of Buldana Urban Credit Co-op Society, Radheshyam Chandak.
Ajay Patel, Vidyasdhar Anaskar, Kaka Koyte, N S Jai Kumar would also attend the event as representatives from Maharashtra State Co-operative Bank, Gujarat State Co-op Bank, Ahmedabad and Maharashtra State Credit Co-op Society Federation, Mumbai has agreed to join the event as Knowledge Partner.
The Annual Report Competition for Credit Co-ops participating in this National Adhiveshan has been arranged, where two selected Credit Co-ops from every State and three National Level selected Credit Co-ops will be felicitated in the Valedictory Session.
More than 4500 delegates from Maharashtra, 2500 from Gujarat & Karnataka and the rest about 2000 from other states are likely to attend the show.
