MAFCOCS plans global cooperative event in Shirdi; Shah invited

On the sidelines of the Maharashtra State BJP executive meeting held in Shirdi on Sunday, Maharashtra State Cooperative Credit Societies Federation (MAFCOCS) Chairman Kaka Koyate met Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah and extended an invitation to attend the International Cooperative Credit Societies Conference, scheduled for 8th and 9th February 2025 in Shirdi.

Following the meeting, Koyate promptly shared photos and details of his interaction with Shah on social media. He wrote, “Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah has accepted the invitation to attend the International Cooperative Credit Societies Conference, scheduled to be held on 8th and 9th February in Shirdi. The conference aims to strengthen the cooperative credit movement.”

He added, “Additionally, Maharashtra Revenue Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil has graciously agreed to serve as the Chief Patron of the event. The organizers expressed heartfelt gratitude to both leaders for their support and participation in this significant initiative to promote the cooperative movement.”

The United Nations (UNO) and the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA) have declared 2025 as the “International Year of Cooperatives,” to be celebrated globally. In alignment with this initiative, the Maharashtra State Cooperative Credit Societies Federation, representing over 16,000 cooperative credit societies across Maharashtra, is organizing the International Cooperative Credit Societies Conference on 8th and 9th February 2025 at Shirdi.

The conference will bring together representatives from 16 countries, 6 Indian states, and over 10,000 stakeholders from the cooperative credit movement.

Maharashtra’s cooperative credit societies, which employ over 2 lakh daily collection agents, play a crucial role in reaching out to the common people, collecting amounts ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 100. These efforts establish daily interactions with approximately 2 lakh families across Maharashtra, creating a direct connection with nearly 5 to 6 crore people.

Key dignitaries, including the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister, Cooperation Minister, Secretary of Cooperation, Commissioner of Cooperation, and other senior officials from the Cooperation Department, have also been invited to this prestigious international event.

The conference is being organized jointly by the Maharashtra State Cooperative Credit Societies Federation, the Maharashtra’s Cooperation Department, the Association of Asian Confederation of Credit Unions (ACCU), and the Federation of Multi-State Cooperative Societies (FMCCS).

The closing ceremony of this two-day International Cooperative Conference will take place on 9th February 2025 at 2:00 PM.
