Newly constituted Executive Committee of the Laxmanrao Inamdar National Academy for Co-operative Research & Development (LINAC) is meeting today in Delhi to deliberate on the issues that would make it world-class as promised at the time of its inauguration early this year with much fanfare.
“The first meeting of the said Committee- which is concerned with the practical aspects of running this much-touted co-op training institute is taking place on 5thNovember that is on Monday”, said Director General of LINAC, D N Thakur to Indian Cooperative.
LINAC has constituted an Executive Committee comprising of several worthies from various fields. The Committee included IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi, Ex Food Secretary J P Meena, AIIMS Raipur Director, an ex IIT Director and others. While NCDC MD is its Chairman, D N Thakur, Joint MD is the vice-Chairman.
Explaining the role of professionals from non-cooperative sector, DN Thakur, DG of LINAC said ”they are all masters of their fields and LINAC will certainly benefit from their presence in the Executive Committee.
Cooperators hope the meeting of Executive Committee may come up with some actionable agenda. The Governing Body which met in May for the first time has not met after that. And the first meeting was mostly introductory.
LINAC has begun training in capacity building of cooperators and professionals associated with urban cooperative bank sector. “We have also recruited three faculty members so far and the process has just begun”, informed the DG.
The Governing Body of LINAC, different from the Executive Committee is concerned with formulating vision and long-term goals for the institute and consists of several IAS officers with the Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Dept being its Chairman. Satish Marathe, Sahakar Bharati Patron is its Vice- Chairman. Other members are Dr K G Karmakar, ex MD, NABARD, Prof (Dr) Varadraj Bapat, IIT Mumbai and Dr V S Das, Retd Executive Director, RBI. Das is credited with preparing a note on Umbrella Organization for UCBs in the country. Other members are Ms Radha Singh, Retd IAS, Ms Neela Gangadharan, Retd IAS, Former Secretary Law & Justice, GOI, Bengaluru and CA Rajib Sahoo, Member IPEF Board, Ministry of Corp Affairs, Bhubaneshwar.
It bears recall that NCDC training centre at Gurgaon was upgraded and renamed as Laxmanrao Inamdar National Academy for Co-operative Research and Development in the beginning of the year. The idea is to convert it into a world class institution—to remember Laxman Rao Inamdar-the founder of Sahakar Bharati on the occasion of celebrations in his centenary year.
