Led by Patil, UCB leaders applaud Anjaneyulu for his contributions

The Andhra Pradesh State Cooperative Urban Banks & Credit Society Federation organized a grand felicitation ceremony to honour senior cooperator and former NAFCUB Vice-President Manam Anjaneyulu for his invaluable contributions to the cooperative banking sector.

The event was organized last week at Vijayawada in which Karnataka Minister and Nafcub Chairman Emeritus H K Patil, Nafcub Chairman Laxmi Das, Director Vemireddy Narasimha Reddy, G Madana Gopala Swamy and  the who’s who  of the cooperative banking sector from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were present.

The ceremony was presided over and moderated by AP State Co-operative Urban Banks and Credit Societies Federation Chairman Chitturi Raveendra. The programme organizer and Nafcub Director Chalasani Raghvendra Rao welcomed the Guests and informed the participants about the contributions of Anjaneyulu in the cooperative sector as well as in the growth of the Visakhapatnam Cooperative Bank, the largest ucb in southern India.

In his address, Patil praised Manam Anjaneyulu for his tireless efforts to uplift the poor and marginalized through the cooperative banking sector. He highlighted Anjaneyulu’s immense contributions, which have greatly benefited the Indian economy and inspired current cooperative practices.

Patil emphasized the crucial role Anjaneyulu played in establishing the NAFCUB office in New Delhi and spoke about working alongside key figures like Anjaneyulu and Gujarat’s former CM Aatmaram Patel. He also acknowledged the cooperative sector’s growth, noting that 22 of Andhra Pradesh’s 45 cooperative urban banks have celebrated their centennials, a testament to the efforts of pioneers like Anjaneyulu.

The Nafcub Chairman also praised Manam Anjaneyulu as a pioneer in cooperative banking, known for his visionary mindset, resilience, humility, and commitment to ethical practices. He highlighted Manam’s ability to nurture and transfer leadership, emphasizing that cooperatives should lead the way in establishing an economic order free of unemployment, exploitation, and inequality.

Sri Vemireddy Narasimha Reddy described Manam Anjaneyulu as the “Bhishma Pitamaha” of the cooperative banking industry. He noted that Manam’s visionary outlook and strategic acumen have elevated Visakhapatnam Co-operative Bank to new heights, emphasizing the significance of long-term thinking and adaptability.

G. Madana Gopala Swamy praised Manam Anjaneyulu’s contributions to the cooperative sector, both in India and globally. He described Manam as a symbol of knowledge and honesty, noting his expertise in law, journalism, and cooperative power. Manam’s strategic approach during the 1998-2004 crises as a government committee member helped drive solutions and foster growth in the cooperative sector, generating employment and prosperity in rural areas.

In his acceptance speech, Manam Anjaneyulu, former MLA and Ex-Chairman of VCBL, expressed his honor in addressing prominent figures in the cooperative banking industry.

He thanked the Andhra Pradesh State Cooperative Urban Banks and Credit Societies Federation for the recognition, stating that cooperative banking is a people’s movement aimed at inclusive economic growth, where the voices of the unheard shape progress.

He emphasized that cooperatives are democratically run enterprises focused on values rather than profit, creating sustainable jobs and meeting the needs of their members.

Manam called for unity among cooperative banks under NAFCUB, advocating for their interests with the RBI. He highlighted the transformative potential of cooperative principles for equality and equity in society and drew parallels with the cooperative movement in socialist Cuba, which emphasizes collective decision-making and solidarity.

He concluded that the cooperative sector must embrace collaboration and innovation to contribute significantly to India’s economic growth.

Anjaneyulu was elected as a director of NAFCUB in 1989, serving at the national level for three decades. He collaborated with notable figures, including former President Prathibha Patil, Central Ministers S. S. Sisodia and Suresh Prabhu, and Karnataka Minister H.K. Patil. Additionally, he held the position of Vice President of NAFCUB for five years.
