Maharashtra’s Kopargaon-based Samata Nagari Sahakari Patsanstha, led by renowned cooperator Omprakash Dadappa alias “Kaka” Koyate, has achieved a historic milestone by surpassing Rs 1,000 crore in deposits, reaching Rs 1,009 crore as of December 31, 2024.
This achievement makes it the first rural cooperative credit society in Maharashtra to cross this landmark, significantly ahead of its March 2025 target.
The Society director Sandeep Koyate attributed this success to the adoption of cutting-edge technology, prompt services, and innovative initiatives. The society’s total business now stands at Rs 1,771.42 crore, supported by 95,111 members. Loans worth Rs 763.19 crore have been disbursed, including secured gold loans amounting to Rs 468 crore, ensuring safety and reliability.
Despite operating only 15 branches, Samata has set a state record with Rs 66 crore in deposits per branch. It also leads in technology-driven services such as mobile banking, NEFT/RTGS facilities, and doorstep pension delivery for senior members.
Chairman Omprakash D. “Kaka” Koyate presided over the 2024 year-end review meeting, where senior director Jitubhai Shah highlighted the society’s remarkable growth—from Rs 1 crore in deposits in 1994 to Rs 1,000 crore in 2024.
Beyond its financial achievements, Samata is deeply committed to social welfare through initiatives like the Samata Charitable Trust and Samata International School. The society operates six “temples” in Kopargaon, including the Samata Study Temple, which supports underprivileged students, and the Sai Ashraya Mandir in Shirdi, which serves orphans and senior citizens, exemplifying its dedication to humanity and cooperation.
General Manager Sachin Bhattad expressed heartfelt gratitude to members, staff, and well-wishers for their unwavering support.
The meeting was attended by key directors and officers and was anchored by HR head Ujjwala Borawake. The vote of thanks was delivered by Sanjay Parkhe, head of the Deposit Department.
