Kerala has always boasted a strong and lively cooperative sector with about two thousand cooperative banks and countless other cooperative societies and organisations.
Kerala’s agricultural and rural economy has greatly benefitted from this wide network of the cooperative institutions and units.
However, Kerala’s opposition leader Achutanandan has warned against implementing the recommendations made by the Viadnathan Committee on the cooperative sector in the state.
According to him, the Committee’s recommendations are dangerous and would destroy the democratic values and norms that have so far sustained the cooperative sector in Kerala.
The Kerala opposition leader vented his anger against the Vaidnathan Committee while addressing the meeting of a cooperative bank in Narakkal.
