The Jharkhand Department of Department of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Cooperation will construct 92 cold storages in Large Area Multi-Purpose Cooperative Societies’ (LAMPS) premises spread across districts of Jharkhand.
The government will spend Rs 300 crore on constructing cold storages. The department has got the approval and construction work will start soon. Each cold store will have a capacity of 30 MT.
The government has directed the building division department to start construction work along with providing the land.
Five decimals of land would be required for each cold storage construction. The estimated cost of each cold storage construction will be 32.43 lakh.
The objective of making cold storages is that farmers will be able to store their fruits, vegetables and other crops. Farmers will be able to get a good price for their produce.
The cold storages will be established in Jamtara, Lohardaga, Chaibasa, Lohardaga, Koderma, Hazaribagh, Godda, Gumla, Palamu, Bokaro, Deoghar, Ranchi and other places of Jharkhand.
Due to the lack of cold store facilities in the nearby districts including Jamtara, the farmers have to sell vegetables, fruits and their produce at a flat price.
Approval has been received from the Cooperative Department for the construction of buildings in Narayanpur including Simuldubi Lamps of Fatehpur Block Kuldangal in Nala Block, and Kundait Lamps Complex.
