Even as the cooperative lender NCDC makes an entry on its home page, the popular cooperative news portal www.indiancooperative.com titled Indian Cooperative has grossed highest ever hits in the month of January.
“NCDC has joined us as the Main Section Sponsor and any co-op organization wishing to avail its loans and related services has to click on our site. Due to its prime location the NCDC logo would greet you as soon as the site opens”, says Indian Cooperative Marketing Manager Amit Awana.
Perhaps the only news portal dedicated to cooperatives and the cooperative movement and which is read not only in India but also abroad has attracted huge readers’ traffic in the first month of the year 2019.
Earlier, Indian Cooperative used to gross a traffic of 1.5 lac daily hits but now it has crossed this threshold. ”Even the page views and the time spent on stories by the readers have increased”, informs Harsh Ranjan, Web Administrator.
“Offering exclusive news and analyses on the cooperative sector and being read by lakhs of people every day the Indian Cooperative has emerged as a reliable platform for a sector neglected so far by the mainstream media. Now it has become a world in itself as is clear from hits attracted by it on the monthly basis”, claimed its Editor Ajay Jha.
Indian Cooperative.com was started in the month of January, 2010 and the next year it would be completing its tenth year of existence when it plans to organize a gala event to mark it’s success, said Jha.
Two latest entries on its homepage marked the beginning of the year. Besides the NCDC, the pride of labour cooperative in the country ULCCS has chosen to be on our homepage. ULCCS is credited with providing direct employment to more than 2000 workers from rural areas and also supporting 5000 families indirectly.

“We have the best from all the sectors of the co-op movement- We have biggest dairy player Amul, biggest UCB Saraswat Bank and biggest fertilizer co-op IFFCO”, said Rohit Gupta, principal correspondent of the portal.
Talking about some of the stories which attracted huge attention in last month Gupta said interview of WOCCU Chief Mr Brain Lee Branch, Nafcub elections, IFFCO bestowing of Srilal Shukla award on Diwakar, Amul launch of Camel Milk and the latest Memorial Lecture on late Ekanath Thakur by Satish Marathe are some of the stories in this list.
But one theme that seeks special mention is the recently concluded election of apex body of Urban Cooperative Banks and Credit societies- NAFCUB. Indian Cooperative did more than a dozen stories on the subject representing all points of views. During the election Indian Cooperative registered highest hits to the portal.
Creating a platform to strengthen the cooperative movement is the main driving force of this portal. Indian Cooperative.com is also getting success on social media as the data collected from Google shows it receiving thousands of messages and impressions on twitter. More n more people are sharing the news post through Facebook. The portal began making its presence felt on social media in 2014.
