Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, marked a significant milestone by inaugurating the new office building of three multi-state cooperative societies – Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Limited (BBSSL), National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL), and National Cooperative Export Limited (NCEL).
The inauguration ceremony was attended by MoS B.L. Verma, Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, Secretary, and other dignitaries, including the Chairpersons and Managing Directors of NCEL, NCOL, and BBSSL. Besides, several top co-operators including the MDs of IFFCO and Amul, Kribhco Chairman could be spotted on the occasion.
The Minister of Cooperation elaborated on the collaborative efforts that led to the establishment of these societies, bringing together leading cooperative entities such as AMUL, NAFED, NCCF, IFFCO, KRIBHCO, NABARD, and NCDC. Shah revealed the substantial response received from members, with NCEL, NCOL, and BBSSL garnering applications from approximately 7,000, 5,000, and 16,000 members respectively.
Shah outlined the multifaceted objectives behind the formation of these societies, emphasizing the shift towards organic farming to combat land degradation caused by chemical fertilizers. He stressed the importance of preserving and enhancing original seeds while promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
