The International Cooperative Banking Association (ICBA) is organizing a 2-day program involving eminent personalities from all over the world. The programs are being held under the leadership of Bhima Subrahmanyam, President, ICBA.
The ICA global office is supporting the program and the minutest details of the event are being updated by them. ICA President Ariel Gaurco is also attending the event, which is in hybrid form. He is the Chief Guest, informed ICBA President Bhima Subramaniyam.
Bhima informed that more than 200 participants from across 35 nationalities are attending the event. Besides Bhima, five more Indians are participating in the program. These include Jyotindra Mehta, NAFCUB President, Ravindra Rao, NAFSCOB President, Rajanna and Ravindran. Sunil Kumar Singh, Biscomaun Chairman is also likely to join the event, said Mr Subramaniyam.
“Never heard of such a program. The program is structured very well with highly capable & high calibre academicians/Cooperative leaders from all over the globe. The seriousness of the program is highly appreciated”, said an excited Bhima Subramaniyam, who is also the MD of apex body of co-op banks, NAFSCOB.
“The program is done in Hybrid form. The ICA President is travelling all the way from Argentina to participate in the ICBA Event”, he stated. The centennial event will be organized between 17 and 19 November 2022, and shall comprise three sub-events.
The first sub event is “Thought-leaders’ Symposium” in which a unique research event dedicated to the future of cooperative banking inviting innovative thinking and proposals from researchers and practitioners from around the world would be featured.
This event is expected to be organized in collaboration with a top-university in Belgium. The objective of this symposium will be to initiate a CFI Think Tank under the aegis of ICBA.
The second event the next day is “Future of cooperative financial institutions”. The central activity of the Centennial event, ICBA Today and Tomorrow will aim to share, vide four sessions, the role of CFIs today and the contributions they can make towards sustainable development of communities.
On 19th November, a Study visit is planned to witness an innovative financing model for energy efficiency. The participants will see Renewable energy sources cooperatives in the city of Eeklo Belgium.
The Members and leadership of the ICBA are convening the Centennial Event on the theme “Cooperative Banking: People Centered Institutions” to re-affirm their belief in the cooperative identity and the resolve of cooperatives to build a better world, underlined Bhima.
