Valedictory function of 60th All India Cooperative Week was jointly organized by Uncofed and department of cooperation at village Ghandawal in Una district of Himachal Pardesh.
Chairman of State finance commission of Himachal Pardesh and former cooperative minister Kuldeep Kumar was the chief guest and Rajinder Sharma, Chairman of RICM, Chandigarh and Director of Himcofed, Shimla was the guest of honor.
Sh. Parkash Chand and Sh. Manohar Lal, Directors Kangra Central Coop Bank, Sh. Mukesh Jaswal, Direcotr HIMFED, Sh. Ram Dass Malangar, Director Milkfed, Sh Umesh Sharma, President, HP Coop Employees Fed and Sh. Vijay Sharma, President State PACS Employees Union also graced the occasion.
Rajinder Sharma in his key note address highlighted the contribution of Una district in cooperative movement of India where in the year 1892 Mian Hira Singh, a foresighted person of village Panjawar, took initiative to form a cooperative society in this village to save the land form erosion caused by flood of Swan River and its tributaries.
On the theme of this cooperative year “Socio-Economic Resurgence in the changing times” he called the persons working in the cooperative movement to switch over to undertake the changes in their policies and functioning to compete with other private and corporate sectors.
Kuldeep Kumar in his valedictory speech said economic recession worldwide is a great challenge for stability and growth of economy for the society. He said only cooperative sector could play a vital role to overcome this and stressed the need to promote in the policies of Govt. accordingly 97th constitutional amendment would definitely strengthen to the cooperative movement in India. He advocated giving incentives to cooperatives to flourish and combat with corporate sector.
On this occasion Assistant Registrar Cooperative Societies, Mr. Nater Singh presented highlights of progress of societies of Una district. He mentioned that during the year 2013 in this district societies earned profit to the tone of Rs.58 Crores and their working capital was Rs.858 Crores.
The best cooperatives in the District and respective blocks were honored on this occasion. In the Distt Una the Amlehar Coop Agriculture Socs was bestowed with the first position and The Kotla Dhogi, which was awarded as the best Coop last year by the president of India, was declared second in the Distt and the Tabba Coop Agriculture Socs was declared third.
Several leaders from cooperative Field were also honored on this occasion such as Ravinder Singh Jaswal, Umesh Sharma, Rampal and Surinder Kashyap. A large gathering of Cooperators attended the function on this occasion along with the departmental officials.
