The Union Ministry of Cooperation organized a meeting under the chairmanship of Gyanesh Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation on Wednesday at Ministry’s headquarters Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan, New Delhi, which was attended by the representatives of National Level Cooperative Federations.
The meeting was particularly designed for MD’s and CEO’s of National Level Cooperative Federations for deliberating on the strengthening of the cooperative movement in the country & deepening its reach to the grassroots level by increasing the range, depth and reach of social media and periodic publications brought out by the National Cooperative Societies.
The meeting that lasted more than two hours, was attended by Nafed MD Rajbir Singh Panwar, Kribhco MD Rajan Chaudhary, IFFCO Cooperative Relation Director Santosh Shukhla, Sugar Federation MD Prakash Naiknavare, NCUI CE Sudhir Mahajan, Fishcopfed’s B K Mishra, NLCF’s Vinay Kumar Chauhan, Nafcub’s Vivek Gupta, Dairy Federation MD Kishore Supekar, Housing Federation MD N S Mehara and others.

In his interaction with Indian Cooperative some time ago, Gyanesh Kumar had lamented that even the best of decisions taken by the ministry does not reach to the grassroot levels. The Ministry’s goal of co-op development is dependent on unhindered flow of information, he felt.
Soon after the meeting one of the participants talking to the Indian Cooperative correspondent said, “During the meeting it was decided to increase the outreach of respective co-ops on various social media platforms with an objective to deepen its reach up to the grassroots level”.
“It was decided to reach each member of related cooperative societies including Primary Cooperative Societies through the circulation of publications and newsletters and other means of communication. The Ministry urged participants to set an action plan with monthly targets.
The Ministry of Cooperation also asked the members to prepare five posters or a short video in 17 languages before the end of this month to increase awareness about the related cooperative societies.
It is worth mentioning that nowadays some of the national level co-ops are active on the social media platforms like Facebook, twitter and others but there are some, which are yet to show their presence on social media.
