BJP had put co-op structure in Gujarat in top gear for the state Assembly elections but it seems to have failed to encash adequately. Some of its top cooperators – Dileepbhai Sanghani, Shankarbhai L . Chaudhary and five-time MLA and Amul Dairy chairman Ramsinh Parmar, who resigned from the Congress and joined the BJP, have lost.
Anand- which is the hotbed of dairy co-op movement seems to have tilted towards Congress this time with three of its contestants romping home. BJP’s could claim two seats here. Parmar lost to Congress’ Kantibhai Parmar from Thasra constituency in Kheda district.
But BJP’s worst performance came from Amreli where it failed to open its accounts while Congress won all the five seats. Sanghai was a candidate from here.
In Saurashtra region to which co-op strong man Jyotindrabhai Mehta belonged BJP did well in Rajkot area by winning 6 seats while Congress could knock off 2 seats here.
While in Mehsana, again a co-operatively active region BJP won 5 seats and Congress 2; in Banaskanth it was Congress which won 5 seats and BJP had to remain content with winning just 3.
In Surat which is said to be home to north Indians, support for Narendra Modi was overwhelming with the BJP winning 15 seats and congress could win just one seat. The same was the case in Ahmadabad and Vadodara regions where BJP posted impressive results in each of them.
Battling the anti-incumbency factor, the BJP’s margin of victory nosedived, though it is still able to form the govt.

Ahmedabad
Former APMC Chairman and BJP Candidate Babubhai J. Patel won the election from Daskroi seat in Ahmadabad.
Amreli
Cooperator from Amreli and Congress Candidate Pareshbhai Dhanani won the election from Amreli in Gujarat. IFFCO Delegate and Congress Candidate Virajibhai Thummar won the election from Lathi seat in Amreli.
Anand
Cooperator and Congress candidate Amitbhai Chavda has won the election from Anklav seat in Anand District. Amul Vice-Chairman and congress candidate Rajendrabhai Parmar has won the election from Borsad seat in Anand District.
Cooperator and congress candidate Kantibhai Sodha Parmar has won the election from Anand constituency.
APMC Kambhat Chairman and BJP Candidate Mayurbhai Raval has won the election from Khambhat seat in Anand.
Bharuch
Bharuch District Cooperative Bank Chairman and BJP Candidate Arunsinh Rana won the election from Vagra seat in Bharuch. Vice Chairman of Gujarat Sugar Federation Ishwarsinh Patel and a BJP Candidate won the election from Ankleshwar seat in Bharuch.
Banaskantha
Shivabhai Bhuriya , Congress candidate won the election from Deodar seat in Banaskantha. Nathabhai Patel, congress candidate won the election from Dhanera seat in Banaskantha. Parvatbhai Patel, BJP Candidate won the election from Tharad seat in Banaskantha.
IFFCO Vice-Chairman and Rajkot District Cooperative Bank Chairman Vithalbhai Radadiya son Jayeshbhai Radadiya won the election on BJP’s ticket from Jetpur seat in Rajkot.
Panchmahal
GCMMF Vice-Chairman and Panchmahal District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Limited Jethabhai Bharwad (100383) won the election on BJP’s ticket from Shehra constituency in Panchmahal.
