The Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM), Pune, is a premier Cooperative Management Institute established in 1946 in Mumbai as a Cooperative Training College. In 1967, the Institute relocated to Pune and now functions under the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India.
Over the years, VAMNICOM has played a pivotal role in strengthening the cooperative movement by conducting management training, providing education, and engaging in research and consultancy projects in the fields of Cooperation and Rural Development.
The Institute remains attuned to the needs of the cooperative sector and designs training programs to enhance the skills of Cooperative Executives and Officials. These efforts align closely with the initiatives of the Ministry of Cooperation, Government of India.
Through its initiatives, VAMNICOM equips cooperative members, professionals, and students with the tools to thrive in an evolving landscape. Committed to shaping policy for cooperatives, the Institute fosters professional managers through its Management Development Programmes (MDPs), education, research, and consultancy.
The Institute’s training programmes and PGDM-ABM curriculum have significantly impacted youth, farmers, and women by improving livelihoods. Its Incubation Centre supports young entrepreneurs in business ideation, ultimately guiding them toward establishing cooperative societies. VAMNICOM envisions becoming a recognized Centre of Excellence for management education and training in the country’s cooperative sector.
As the esteemed institution embarks on its 58th year of service, it proudly celebrates its Foundation Day annually on January 15 in honor of Late Vaikunthbhai Mehta, a luminary of India’s cooperative movement.
