Delegation from Honduras Credit Unions visits NCUI; Exchanges views

A delegation of 42 cooperative representatives from the National Federation of Honduras Credit Unions (FACACH) visited the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) office on Wednesday.

The delegation, led by Mr. Celvin Leodan Valladares, President of the Board of Directors, FACACH, included representatives from various cooperative organizations, such as ELGA, CACIL, CEIBENA, COOPACYL, TAULABE, PESPIRENSE, and SAGRADA FAMILIA.

An interactive meeting was held in the NCUI Board Room to engage with the delegation.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Chandrapal Singh Yadav, President of the International Cooperative Alliance Asia-Pacific (ICA-AP); Dr. Sudhir Mahajan, Chief Executive of NCUI, Savitri Singh, Deputy Chief Executive of NCUI, and other senior officials of NCUI.

During the meeting, participants engaged in a productive exchange of ideas and best practices, focusing on the cooperative movement in both India and Honduras.

A presentation titled “Role and Functions of NCUI: Initiatives for Empowering Cooperatives” was delivered by Mrs. Savitri Singh, highlighting NCUI’s role in strengthening cooperatives and empowering communities.

Additionally, a representative from KRIBHCO (Krishak Bharati Cooperative Limited) showcased a short film on KRIBHCO, providing insights into the organization’s activities.

The KRIBHCO representative also briefed the delegation about the cooperative’s key initiatives, contributions to the agricultural sector, and efforts to support farmers across India.

This meeting presented an excellent opportunity to strengthen international cooperative ties, share experiences, and explore potential areas of collaboration between the Indian and Honduran cooperative movements.

The event underscored NCUI’s and KRIBHCO’s commitment to fostering global cooperation and promoting knowledge exchange within the cooperative sector.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the NCUI Haat, an initiative by NCUI to promote rural artisans and their products.

The delegates praised this initiative, appreciating NCUI’s efforts to empower small-scale producers. Many members of the delegation also purchased products from NCUI Haat, showing their support for the cause.
