A court in Thane has said senior govt bureaucrats are not guilty of the crime they are accused of in a cooperative housing scam. According to prosecution, several bureaucrats from Mantralaya in league with a Navi Mumbai realtor had set up a cooperative housing society and misused public funds amounting to a little than a crore of rupees for buying a plot in 1999.
The more than three scores of accused had formed a cooperative society that was not registered and the land they claimed to have bought had been allotted to gardeners at a subsidised rate for their housing.
The case against the accused had been initiated under umpteen sections of IPC and under sections of the cooperative societies act 1960.
