In a major breakthrough , the Bangalore police have caught four persons including an accountant of a cooperative society in connection with the murder of Mahantesh an officer working in the audit division of the cooperative department of the Karnataka government.
It bears recall that Mahantesh had exposed scams and misuse of funds in several cooperative societies.
His brutal murder had provoked national shock and anger including rumblings in the Parliament.
Kiran Kumar the accountant of a cooperative society who had swindled a huge amount of money did not want Mahantesh to audit his accounts and this explained why he got him murdered.
Directed by the court, the Bangalore police had detailed a couple of hundreds of cops to investigate the case. The vehicle used in committing the crime has been seized.
Police sources say Mahantesh’s killing is being investigated from all possible angles and all those involved in it would be brought to justice soon.
