During the National Level Horticulture Value Chain Function on “Expansion of Horticulture Value Chain in India – Potential and Opportunities”, several cooperatives including IFFCO, Venkateshwara Co-operative Power & Agro Processing Limited and Sikkim State Cooperative Supply & Marketing Federation Ltd participated in the event.
In a press release issued by Vamnicom says, “Venkateshwara Co–operative Power & Agro Processing Limited has re-engineered a business strategy with creating a range of activities from grain cultivation to Horticulture, Aquaculture, Exotic Vegetables, Dairy Farming, Goat Farming, etc”.
“SIMFED received the Horticulture Value Chain Award 2022 for their valuable contribution as a seller of more than 150 organic products that are grown and sourced locally, regionally and nationally through marketing channels established across the country”, it further reads.
The event was inaugurated by Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers welfare Narendra Singh Tomar. The Felicitation Ceremony highlighting the achievements of various farmers across the country, was held during the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister Tomar had compared farmers to soldiers and said they aare as adorable as the latter. People related to the horticulture field including farmers, FPOs, start-ups and bankers were present on the occasion. If the villages are prosperous and self-reliant, then the country itself will become prosperous and self-sufficientM, said Tomar.
Minister said that the merchant-entrepreneur should give the maximum price of agricultural produce to the farmer. This will not only make our farmers prosperous but also inspire the next generation to do farming.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has promoted indigenous technology in agriculture and today youth, retired employees, and people associated with the corporate sector are also coming forward for farming. People’s interest in organic and natural farming is also increasing, Tomar underlined.
