The apex body of cooperatives-NCUI in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Cooperation is organizing a gala event at Gandhinagar, Gujarat on the occasion of 102nd International Day of Cooperatives on 6th July 2024.
The event is scheduled to be inaugurated by the Union Minister of Home and Cooperation Amit Shah. The conference will also be attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel and Minister of State for Cooperation Mr. Jagdish Panchal.
In preparation for the International Cooperative Day event, a meeting was held at the headquarters of GUJCOMASOL in Gandhinagar under the chairmanship of Dileep Sanghani and was attended by the Ghanshyambhai Amin, Directors of GUJCOMASOL Rasikbhai Patel and Manubhai Khunti, and CEO Dinesh Suthar.
Also, a video conference was held in which key participants included Central Cooperation Secretary Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, NCDC MD Mr. Pankaj Kumar Bansal, Secretary to the Union Cooperation Minister Mr. Neeraj Kumar, officials from central and state cooperative departments, and representatives of major state cooperative societies.
Talking to Indian Cooperative, NCUI President Dileepbhai Sanghani said, “All preparations for organizing the event on the occasion of International Day of Cooperatives are afoot and final touches are being given”, he revealed.
He further said, “Around 5000 cooperators from Gujarat as well as other states will participate in the event. Interestingly, for the first time in the history Gujarat is hosting such a gala event on the occasion of International Day of Cooperatives”, he noted.
The event is scheduled to take place at Mahatma Mandir Convention & Exhibition Centre. The primary to district to state to national level cooperatives’ representatives will grace the occasion, said Sanghani while sharing the details of the forthcoming event with Indian Cooperative on the phone.
The theme of IDC 2024 (#coopsday) is “Cooperatives Build a Better Future for All” to be observed on Saturday 6th July 2024. The focus will be to showcase how our human- centered business model, inspired by the cooperative values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity, and solidarity and the ethical values of honesty etc.
The International Day of Cooperatives (IDC) is celebrated on the first Saturday of July every year. The aim of Cooperative Day is to increase awareness about cooperatives and promote the cooperative movement’s ideas of international solidarity, economic efficiency, equality and world peace.
Since 1995, the ICA and the United Nations through the Committee for the Promotion and Advancement of Cooperatives (COPAC) have jointly set the theme for the celebration of Cooperative Day.
