Co-operators celebrate festival of lights with gusto

On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, co-operators of all hues joined national leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi in expressing good wishes and Diwali greetings to one and all.

With more than 35 crore Indians being part of the cooperative fraternity in the country, co-op behemoths such as IFFCO, Amul and Kribhco took special pains to reach out to their members.

Led by President of the apex body NCUI Chandra Pal Singh, several top-notch co-operators tweeted on the occasion. In a text message sent to Indian Cooperative Chandra Pal wrote “I wish a happy and prosperous Deepawali to our fellow countrymen and pray that lord Ganesha and Ma Laxmi be always benevolent on the cooperative sector and on the people connected with it.”

IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi wrote, “I wish everyone a very #HappyDiwali. May this divine festival of lights “Diwali” will make you shine with peace, prosperity, happiness & keep you in your good health. My best festive wishes to all farmers & cooperators. #StaySafe from #Corona. #HappyDipavali #SayNoToCrackers”.

R S Sodhi, Managing Director of GCMMF also wished everyone a very happy and prosperous Dipawali through the platform of Indian Cooperative. He also remembered soldiers on this occasion.

Jyotindra Mehta, President of Nafcub wished his friends and families on the occasion by writing on his Facebook wall.

Besides, the Chandigarh chapter of Sahakar Bharati has distributed gifts among the underprivileged people in Bapudham on the occasion of Deepawali. Gifts included items like lamps, oil bottles and sweets.

The social media handle of Saraswat Bank wrote on twitter, ” May Goddess Laxmi bless you and your loved ones with wealth and prosperity. Happy Laxmi Pujan!”

The Cosmos Cooperative Bank tweeted, ” May this diwali be filled with joy, fun and prosperity. Have a happy and safe diwali. Cosmos Family”.

Social media was flooded with greetings from many other co-operators including IFFCO Director R P Singh, NCUI CE N Satyanarayana, Biscomaun Chairman Sunil Kumar Singh, among others.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated his Diwali with soldiers in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer. He congratulated the families of the soldiers who are deployed along the border during the festival season. PM Modi distributed sweets to the soldiers to mark the festive celebrations.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar also greeted his followers through social media and wrote, “Best wishes to you and your family on the auspicious occasion of Diwali”.
