The Central Registrar Vijay Kumar has directed nodal officers associated with the Sahara Credit Cooperative Society to settle the claims which have been verified but not paid by the society and make all such payments within two weeks.
The order was released by the office of the Central Registrar on 2nd May 2022. The letter reads, “This order is in respect of claims in the first batch sent to the Sahara Credit Cooperative Society Ltd. whereas, the first batch was sent to the Society vide email dated 12.04.2022 with a direction to reply within a week in the prescribed format after due verification”.
“Since the requisite details were not received in time, a reminder letter was sent on 20.04.2022 via e-mail to the designated Nodal officer of the Society. As no response was also received to the telephone calls made by this office, a meeting was convened on 29.04.2022 at 4 PM with the concerned Nodal Officer”, it further reads.
According to the letter, “Just before the meeting, a reply from the Society regarding the claims of Batch- was received with the following details. 3023 claims records have been verified to be correct by the Society. 158 Number of claims have already been reportedly settled by the Society. For 483 number of claims, the accounts have not been verified by the Society as per the Society records”.
The Central Registrar has been directed to take the following action. In respect of claims which have been verified but not paid by the Society, make all such payments within two weeks of this order as per the timelines stipulated by the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi in its order dated 22.03.2022.
It is also directed to upload the proof of payment by the due date. In respect of claims where the due amount is stated to have been already paid, it is directed to upload the proof of payment within a week, reads the order.
In respect of claims which are not verified as per the reply of the Society, Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Govt. of UP is being separately requested to get an inspection of the Society conducted under section 108 of the MSCS Act, 2002 to reconcile the accounts, it concludes, the order says.
Readers would recall that last month the Delhi High Court restrained Sahara Credit Cooperative Society Ltd, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, Saharayn Universal Multipurpose Society Ltd, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, and Humara India Credit Cooperative Society Ltd, Kolkata, West Bengal from collecting any deposits from the public.
