NSRICM, Kalyani, West Bengal recently organised a three month training program for “Diploma in Industrial Cooperative Management”. The event was sponsored by the Directorate General, Resettlement for the Jr. Commissioned Officers (JCOs), who are likely to retire shortly.
The objective of the training program was to enable the JCOs to form Industrial Cooperatives and engage themselves after retirement with something useful for their own economic upliftment and also serve the society. With this aim in mind, the Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India, sponsored 39 JCOs, from the three wings of the Defence Forces.
Brigadier Arbindam, C.O. of G.P.H.Q., NCC, Kalyani, Nadia, West Bengal inaugurated the training program. Brig. Arbindam motivated the participants with his enthusiastic words and urged them to understand and learn the subjects thoroughly as Cooperatives can make their lives much better after retirement.
During the program ,the subjects such as “Organisation Structure and Business Development”, “Financial and Cost Accounting” & “Legal Structure”, all of which were covered in 25 sessions each. A galaxy of Lecturers, both Internal and External, were requisitioned to deliver the lectures.
The methods used by the various lecturers of the training program included Classroom Lecturing, Teaching by using technology, Showing short management clips & PPTs, with Study visits. A two weeks study visits had been arranged for the participants of different cooperative societies and industries to see the actual working of small scale industry.
Finally a Study project preparation was also done by the participants with the necessary consultation of Faculty Members of the institute.
The three month long Diploma in Industrial Cooperative Management program ended with the “Valediction function” attended by Dr. P. K. Upadhyay & Dr. I. A. Khan, Program Director. Khan also moved a vote of thanks on the occasion.
