Karnataka based Kalaburagi-Yadgir DCCB is organizing a gala event on the occasion of the first day of 69th All India Cooperative Week to be celebrated on 14th November and will be inaugurated by the State Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
Talking to the Indian Cooperative correspondent on the phone, the Bank Chairman and MLA Rajkumar Patil Telkur said, “We are organizing a big event at Sedam town in Kalaburagi in which around 1.5 lakh people will participate. On this occasion, we will distribute the interest free loans worth Rs 200 crores to 5k women Self-help groups and thousands of farmers”.
“It will be the first of its kind to be kicked off. Besides CM, around seven cabinet rank ministers including Cooperative Minister ST Somashekhar and others sent their consent to participate in the event. For one week we have been preparing to make the event successful”, he asserted.
He further added, the Chief Minister would relaunch the Yeshasvini health scheme and also distribute health cards to 25k beneficiaries having APL and BPL cards.
It is reported that over 90 cooperators’ names have been shortlisted for the ‘Sahakar Ratna Award’ for their contributions to the cooperative movement and will be felicitated in a function to be organized during week long celebrations from 14-20 November 2022.
The theme of the weeklong celebration is “India@75: Growth of Cooperatives and Future Ahead”. The basic objective of the celebrations is to highlight the achievements of the cooperative sector and chalk out a future strategy for strengthening the cooperative movement.
News of co-ops celebrating co-op week is coming from various parts of the country. Here, in Delhi the apex body of co-ops in the country NCUI has also lined up several events on the occasion. B.L. Verma, Union Minister of State for Cooperation, will be inaugurating the 69th All India Cooperative Week, organized by National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI), on Monday 14th November 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at NCUI campus, New Delhi.
Pan-India, the cooperatives will be celebrating the 69th All India Cooperative Week from 14th-20th November, 2022. The main aim of this year’s Cooperative Week celebrations is: India@ 75 : Growth of Cooperatives and Future Ahead.
This year’s main theme is more significant as it epitomes 2022 as the 75th year of Independence ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, with the objective of not just highlighting the landmarks achieved by the cooperative movement in nation building, but also executing the future action plan to address the challenges faced by the cooperative sector as we move towards the centenary of India’s Independence (Amrit Kaal).
Apart from the well-known cooperatives like AMUL, TRIFED, NAFED, MARKFED, IFFDC, Bhottico, etc., many other cooperatives/SHGs from all over the country will be putting up stalls in the week-long Sahakar Mela to mark the Cooperative Week celebrations. Sahakar Mela is being organized by NCUI Haat in the NCUI premises.
NCUI is an apex organization of the Indian cooperative movement. At present, cooperatives in India with a network of over 8.5 lakh cover 90% of the villages, which are pivotal institutions for bringing socio-economic development for inclusive growth in India.
