Thanking IFFCO MD Dr US Awasthi for choosing Biscomaun as an agency to distribute urea in Bihar, Chairman Sunil Singh said “we are overwhelmed by Dr U S Awasthi’s gesture.”
Sunil was addressing Biscomaun’s 28th Annual General Meeting last week in Patna. He said ” State Cooperative Marketing Federation has opened scores of centers for distribution of urea directly to the farmers of Bihar. The fertiliser would be sold at Rs. 300 per bag. I am thankful to IFFCO MD U.S Awasthi for helping us achieve this goal”, he added.
Readers would note that IFFCO’s urea is being routed through Biscomaun after a 30 year gap. It may not be out of place to mention that Indian Cooperative – perhaps the only forum for cooperators- has made a modest contribution into the getting together of cooperators at the national level. The portal always honestly reported Biscomaun’s appreciation of good works by IFFCO and generally made efforts towards closing communication gaps between cooperators.
At one point of time Sunil Singh went to the extent of calling Dr Awasthi the best CEO India has! The story was carried prominently by our portal creating a friendly atmosphere in the country’s cooperative circles.
Another important point raised in Biscomaun’s AGM was providing online membership of PACS. Leaders strongly opposed the idea and said it would lead to confusion with all sorts of people becoming members; there must be a filter-system, they felt.
Sunil Singh said ” this is a patently wrong decision and we will protest against it. And if need be, we will go to court” he said.
Former Advisor P P Sharma said ” there are about 150 urea selling centers in the state and those at central locations would be upgraded into shopping complexes. “We are going to open a shopping complex in Sheikhpura”, added Sunil.
Several delegates spoke on the occasion including delegates from Jharkhand demanding more field activities in their state. Many participants in the AGM were from various cooperative bodies including District Cooperative banks.
Ramesh Chaubey, Panchanan Sharma, Ram Babu Singh and several other prominent cooperators also attended the AGM.
