Addressing the Women Directors at the State Level Women Directors one day Workshop held recently at Vashi in Mumbai, Vidyadhar Anaskar said knowledgeable woman directors bring in significant changes in work culture of co-op banking.
The workshop was organized by the Maharashtra Urban Co-op Banks Federation Limited where Anaskar is the chairman. Anaskar asserted that if their participation is in the field of knowledge, they automatically get the role of leadership and the image of co-op banks also gets enhanced on its own.
Over 100 Women directors of the state participated in the event. Besides Anaskar, Mrs. Bhagyalata Kaushik, Deputy General Manager of Reserve Bank also addressed the audience.
There is a provision of two reserved women Directors in the Co-operatives Act but it is also necessary that women do get elected from the Open Category to contribute effectively to the work of the Board of Directors, felt the Chairman.
Anaskar said women’s participation will be enlightening if they have in-depth information about bye-laws. It should just not be ornamental but actual, he said while inaugurating this workshop.
In the second session, Mrs. Bhagyalata Kaushik, Deputy General Manager of Reserve Bank, gave guidance on the structure of Urban Banks, their characteristics, role of TAFCUB, recent amendments in the Banking Regulation Act, role and functions of Directors, expectations of Reserve Bank from the Board of Directors, etc.
