Amin asks cooperatives of Gujarat to make most of CM’s schemes

Gujarat State Cooperative Credit Societies Federation and Gujarat State Cooperative Union jointly organized a State Level Cooperative Webinar recently with an objective to guide Cooperative Institutes about the salient features of Mukhyamantri Mahila Utkarsh Yojana (Chief Minister’s Women Upliftment Scheme) recently launched by the Government of Gujarat.

This Webinar was presided over by Ghanshyambhai Amin, Chairman of Gujarat State Cooperative Union, Ahmedabad. Speaking on the occasion, Amin said Covid-19 has seriously impacted the economy of the entire world including our country. The Union Government as well as the Government of Gujarat have announced packages to meet the challenge posed by Covid 19.

Lauding the State Government, Amin said it has reposed trust in the cooperative sector and has assigned the important task of giving loans to the small businessmen, artisans, the labourers, tailors, vegetables vendors, carpenters and others.  The cooperative sector has given loans amounting to Rs 1500 Crores to about 1.50 lacs beneficiaries, informs the press release issued by the federation, he informed.

Amin further said Vijaybhai Rupani, Chief Minister of Gujarat announced a Mahila Utkarsh Yojna on the occasion of the birthday of Prime minister Narendrabhai Mod with the aim to make women economically independent and self -reliant.

Under this scheme about one lac self-help groups will be financially helped at 0 percent interest. An amount of ? 1000 Crore has been earmarked for the implementation of the scheme. Amin thanked the Gujarat Government for deciding to execute the scheme through the platform of the cooperative sector.

Kalpakbhai Maniar, Chief Guest of the Webinar and Ex-Chairman of Rajkot Nagrik Sahakari Bank, explained the Mukhyamantri Mahila Utkarsh Yojna in detail through making power-point presentations. He also explained how cooperative societies work in the field, how to form groups, how cooperative Institutes can join with the scheme and the benefits they will get by way of joining in the scheme.

R M Pandya, Joint MD of GIPL and UM Vasanwala, the retired Joint Registrar of Gujarat State acquainted the participants with the scheme in detail and how it could be executed. They also answered the questions asked by the representatives of the societies.

In his remarks, J J Shah, the retired Joint Registrar, Cooperative Societies said Cooperative Institutes should first have MOUs with GULM at urban level and with GMPC at rural level before execution and implementation of this scheme. He also informed that the Government has exempted Women Societies from Stamp Duty and therefore Sakhi Mandals would not be required to pay stamp duty.
