Excerpts:
I am happy to know about the organization of the 70th All India Cooperative Week by the National Cooperative Union of India from 14 to 20 November 2023. The theme of the program ‘Role of Cooperative Societies and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in making India a 5 trillion-dollar economy’ is extremely relevant and commendable.
There is a glorious history of cooperation and cooperatives in our country. Imbued with infinite possibilities, Co-operation is a wonderful means of national progress.
From the freedom movement to making the country self-reliant in various fields, the cooperative sector has a major contribution in our development journey.
It is the power of co-operation which is giving strength to the mantra of ‘women led development’ by providing economic independence to the people, especially mothers and sisters.
In the last 9 years, the field of cooperation has been at the center of our various schemes. By adopting new measures and new efforts in accordance with the future needs of India, we are moving forward on the path of prosperity through cooperation.
It is the result of our tireless efforts that now the co-operative movement is not limited to some states, but is becoming a medium of progress for villages and farmers across the country. Cooperation and trust are interrelated.
Digital transactions between our cooperative societies, cooperative banks and the general public will further strengthen people’s trust in cooperatives.
In the Amrit Kaal, the role of cooperation will be decisive in strengthening the country’s economy and in fulfilling the resolve of a developed India.
I am confident that there will be fruitful discussions in the All India Cooperative Week programs on popularizing cooperatives and taking concrete steps towards making villages self-reliant.
Heartiest congratulations to all the people participating in the program!
