Ace cooperator Anaskar gets elected as NAFSCOB Vice-Chairman

The chairman of the Administrative Board of Maharashtra State Cooperative (MSC) Bank Vidyadhar Anaskar has unanimously been inducted as vice-chairman into the board of Nafscob. Anaskar, a high profile cooperator from Pune was earlier declared elected Vice-President of the apex body of urban co-op banks and credit societies NAFCUB.

The announcement related to his elevation in the apex body of co-op banks in the country was made during the Nafscob’s board meeting in Ahmedabad.

Sharing the news, Dileep Sanghani Chairman of Nafscob informed, “Yes for the first time Anaskar has been unanimously inducted as Vice-Chairman of Nafscob. As there are five Vice-Chairmen from five zones on the board”.

Besides Anaskar, other Vice-Chairmen include, K N Rajanna, Chairman, Karnataka SCB, Southern Region, Rameshchandra Chaubey, President, Bihar SCB, Eastern Region, Gautam Bora, Assam SCB, North Eastern Region, Khushiram Balnath, Chairman, Himachal SCB, North Region.

After the meeting, the Nafscob board members visited the newly built statue of unity.

NAFSCOB, was established on 19th May 1964 with a view to facilitating the operations of State and Central Cooperative Banks in general and the Development of Cooperative Credit in particular, claims its website.

Held as trouble-shooter par excellence Vidyadhar Anaskar was earlier made the chairman of the Administrative Board of Maharashtra State Cooperative (MSC) Bank which had fallen into red due to mounting NPAs.

Under his leadership MSC Bank has amended its bye-laws which earlier read that bank can only do agro based banking and to minimize the risk and generate income decided to enter into retail banking and compete with private sector.

Anaskar also bagged “Banking Ratna” Award which was given to him jointly by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Maharashtra State Cooperative Minister Subhash Deshmukh at a function held recently in Pune.
