Cabinet approves creation of one post of Secretary and one post of Joint Secretary in the newly created Department of Fisheries
The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved one post of Secretary and one post of Joint Secretary in the Department of Fisheries on permanent basis. Reacting to the news FISHCOPFED MD B K Mishra said we hope that with the creation of new posts, several of the pending files would start moving.
Fishcopfed has always been complaining that due to lack of permanent officers dedicated to fisheries, many of their problems remain unresolved.
The creation of these posts is to ensure smooth functioning and for fulfilling the mandate of the newly created Department.
Newly created posts would enable the Department of Fisheries to undertake/monitor number of projects/schemes for the development of the sector, the welfare and protection of the interest of the large number of Fishermen.
It bears recall that despite several meetings with Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh, FISHCOPFED has failed to get service charge released from the govt. Sources say the Union Agriculture Minister’s instructions in the matter were not carried out by the ministry officials partly due to non-availability of a dedicated bureaucracy.
Fishcopfed Managing Director B.K.Mishra said the non-payment of service charge that has seriously affected his organization’s financial situation. A co-op which saw a turnaround in its fortune is once again sliding down, lamented staffs of Fishcopfed.
For four years in a row the service-charge has been held-up in the govt files forcing Fishcopfed to make desperate attempts to survive somehow.
