The Gujarat government has reportedly turned down the plea of a fishing cooperative society to file a case against state Fisheries Minister Purshottam Solanki in connection with an alleged corruption case.
Responding to an ongoing contempt of court case filed by Issac Maradia, a fishing cooperative leader, Advocate General Kamal Trivedi on September 29 told Gujarat High Court that Maradia’a plea seeking prosecution permission has been declined by the government.
“Trivedi has also told the court that the order has been sent to Maradia. But we are yet to get the order,” said Rajesh Mankad, Maradia’s counsel. The next hearing will be held on October 14.
Earlier, Maradia had filed a Public Interest Litigation that led to the cancellation of the fishing contracts last year. He alleged that the minister sought and received Rs 11 crore from 58 contractors for the fishing rights to 58 reservoirs.
