When PM Modi phoned Sanghani to greet him!

Dileep Sanghani’s elevation to the top post at the global level player IFFCO has had its echoes all over the place. Tearing himself away from a tight schedule even the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi took to phone to greet him Wednesday afternoon.

Sanghani was presiding over the board meeting as the Chairman for the first time at the IFFCO headquarters when his phone rang displaying no number. He understood in a flash that it was Modi. But his efforts to establish verbal communication failed for the first time.

While Sanghani was regretting his luck, the phone rang again and it again went silent. “I then decided to come out of the meeting room to talk to the Prime Minister as the IFFCO Board room had obviously some signal issues”, said Sanghani to this correspondent narrating the whole story.

“Modi jee was very happy as it is the first time that a BJP leader has become the Chairman of IFFCO, a co-op body which is number one globally in its category”, said Sanghani with a sense of pride.

The Prime Minister’s phone came just a few minutes after Sanghani’s election. “How was this possible? How did the PM know”, asked this correspondent? Sanghani explained the mystery “Soon after my elevation, I informed PM’s staff about this and he must have communicated this to Modi who lost no time in calling me back”.

And Amit Shah? Did you inform him, asked this correspondent? Yes, I did, just after I informed the PM and I expect a call from him too. His staff members will inform him as soon as Amitbhai is free and I expect a call back sooner than later”, said Sanghani who as a BJP representative completed the conquest by winning both the top bodies-NCUI and IFFCO.

Later, after his election, Sanghani came to the NCUI headquarters where people were waiting for him for a long. Sanghani looked fatigued handling barrages of congratulatory messages on the phone.

It was not only his phone that rang without a break but also that of his associates around him. Ved Prakash Setia, who was with him throughout the day, had his phone busy receiving calls for Sanghani.

Sanghani also distributed blankets among the poor, organized on his victory at the NCUI campus by the BJP Mahila Morcha leader Bhavana Gondliya from Gujarat Wednesday evening.
