Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Vice President of India touched the hearts of audience in the Vamnicom Convocation held in Pune on Monday with his simple assertion that faith in mother, mother tongue, motherland and the Guru (teacher) can do wonders in the life of students.
About 51 students were conferred Post Graduate diplomas and certificates in Agri-Business Management by the Vice President in the function. Manjunath, Santhoor R and Sugumar S were awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze medals respectively in order of merit.
The students and the audience were enthralled by the convocation address delivered by the learned Vice-President. Naidu urged the young agri business graduates to tap the opportunities in agriculture. Let all stakeholders be it Centre, State or Local bodies come together to help develop rural India so that rural urban divide can be bridged, asserted Naidu.
“Agribusiness professionals can contribute immensely through their knowledge on the need of intensive cropping, training on crop insurance, becoming self-reliant in food security, building good roads and rural infrastructure, cold storages, assured electricity, water harvesting mechanisms, and timely adequate credit at an affordable rate”, outlined Naidu.
His words of wisdom were well received by one and all. The auditorium resounded with a thundering ovation.The convocation ceremony began with a majestic academic procession from VAMNICOM Bhawan to Shivneri Auditorium where the function was held.
At the outset Dr. K.K. Tripathy, Director, VAMNICOM, welcomed the Chief Guest, dignitaries on the dais and off the dais, students of PGDM, Faculty, Staff of the Institute and participants of various training progammes. He told how VAMNICOM has become a vibrant Agri-business management school in India and how has it crafted a place for itself on the agri management education map of the country.
He also disclosed that till date 1424 students have successfully graduated from the institute and are performing excellently in their professional careers.
While Vice President Venkaiah Naidu was the chief guest, the ceremony was presided over by Governor of Maharastra, Shri. CH. Vidyasagar Rao. Sanjay Agarwal, Secretary and Vasudha Mishra, Additional Secretary were also present, among others. Dr K.K Tripathy felicitated the dignitaries on the dais by presenting mementos of gratitude. The program ended with the National Anthem.
