Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM), Pune – an institute under Ministry of Agriculture, GoI, in collaboration with NCDEX (National Commodity and Derivative Exchange) Mumbai recently conducted an online program aimed at boosting Agri Commodity markets.
Titled “Developing Inclusive Agri Commodity Markets in India: Role of Banks”, the online programme focussed on various aspects of the agricultural commodity markets, according to a press note issued by the institute,
The program was inaugurated by Dr K K Tripathy, Director of Vamnicom. The objective of the program was to sensitize banks, financial institutions and other stakeholders to the important aspects of agricultural commodity markets.
The program covered new instruments like “Futures”, “Options”, “E-NWR” (Electronic Negotiable Warehouse Receipts) etc.
The business potential of the Farmer Producer Organisations (FPO) was also discussed.
The team of NCDEX experts consisted of 5 senior officers viz., Ms Seema Nayak, Chief Compliance Officer, Kapil Development, Aleen Mukherjee, Ms. Ramadevi Srinivasan, Abhishek Rai, and Ms Kavita Jha.
The program was coordinated by Prof D V Deshpande of VAMNICOM. About 60 officials from banks, financial institutions and other stakeholders participated in the program.
The participants were happy to learn the new ideas which are useful for the banks and said they would implement the same in their banks.
