The countdown of Samajwadi Party control on Uttar Pradesh co-operatives has begun; at least so would the cooperators connected to BJP in Uttar Pradesh would make you believe. And they quote the success of Hari Sahay Mishra Madan who won the Chairmanship of Unnao District Cooperative Bank as a proof.
The argument gains strength also from the fact that from Deputy CM to Co-operative minister- everyone rushed to greet the new co-operative hero, as he is being touted by the ruling party. Observers also relate to Cooperative Minister Mukut Bihari statements made in the past when he vowed to cleanse UP co-ops of the SP influence.
It was after 23 years that the Cooperators connected with Samajwadi Party which controlled Unnao District Cooperative Bank lost to BJP in a fiercely fought election. Bhartiya Janata Party’s well-known face from Uttar Pradesh Hari Sahay Mishra Madan has been elected unopposed as the chairman of Unnao District Cooperative Bank
It is for the first time when the BJP has captured 9 out of 14 posts of directors of a District Cooperative Bank. There were 14 posts out of which all 14 nominations had been filed. The result of the election was announced recently.
After his election as the chairman, Hari Sahay Mishra Madan drowned in garlands felt nearly choked. An emotional Madan thanked one and all profusely.
Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya greeted him on his historical victory. UP Cooperative Minister Mukut Bihari Verma lost no time in congratulating the newly elected team of Unnao District Cooperative Bank and wrote on his social media “I congratulate the whole team and especially Shri Madan Mohan Mishra who has been elected unopposed as the Chairman of Unnao DCCB”.
It bears recall that after defeating Congress Candidate in 1993 a close aide of Samajwadi Party Chief Mulyam Singh Yadav Fateh Bhadur Sah had been elected as the chairman of Unnao DCCB whose tenure was cut short by his sudden demise in 2016. After his demise, Vice-Chairman of the bank Ramesh Yadav was acting as the chairman.
The court had ordered the election of the district cooperative bank.
